Zusammenfassung:The transmission system has 2 employed line devices (1,2) coupled together via line sections (4) between intermediate unemployed line devices (3), used for signal regeneration and provision of status information, respectively transmitted along a main channel and an auxiliary channel. At least one of the employed line devices transmits monitoring words. Each unemployed line device has a control circuit adjusting an interrogation address (ABA) contained within the monitoring word by a given amount, to initiate insertion of status information (MW1...MW3) in the monitoring word. ADVANTAGE - Allows continuous monitoring of unemployed line devices.
