Zusammenfassung:The suspension system uses shock absorbers (1), each of which has a damping valve which can be adjusted between at least three different damping valves, dependent on the travel characteristics of the vehicle. The travel characteristics are used to limit the possible number of damping values from which the current damping value can be selected, using a given control rule. The control rule has a threshold value for limiting the damping value to an upper or lower range, in dependence on the oscillation characteristic, e.g. the detected absolute velocity of the suspension spring.
