The invention relates to a digital telecommunication exchange system which contains at least one so-called master database and at least one dependent database in connection with administration and maintenance procedures. To protect the consistency of data, administration and maintenance commands trigger the processing of so-called administration and maintenance orders AMO in several databases. The commands contain a designation of the respective administration and maintenance order, a designation of the action to be executed, for example "change", and parameter data which specify the AMO program module and the respective action. After a data record has been changed in the master database, the command is transmitted unchanged to one or a number of dependent databases which extract the data subset of interest in each case.
