The individual parts which have differently formed ends are passed into the collecting area (14) of the untangling device (12) where compressed air is used to unhook the parts from each other. The individual parts are then discharged through an outlet (38) and spaced out by a sorter (48) before being placed on a transporter (66) and passing by a detector (82) which determines which end of the brush is leading. Where necessary the individual parts are then turned 180 deg. By a turning device (86) which is controlled by the detector so that then all the parts can be supplied to the transporter (66) with their two ends in the same orientation.
