Zusammenfassung: | An artillery shell (2) has a guide ring (3) made of copper and fitted in a dovetail groove in the shell surface. The guide ring of a used artillery shell is salvaged by cutting a deep circumferential recess near each end of the ring. The recesses extend radially through the thickness of the ring and are connected by longitudinal grooves. The main part of the ring can then be easily removed, followed by the removal of the end parts which can be moved axially to disengage them from the walls of the dovetail groove. USE/ADVANTAGE - Salvaging of copper guide rings from artillery shells by an easy method of removal from the shell. |
