Coating substrate with rubber by applying two resin solns. - with polymerisation inducer only in first, to prevent equipment scale

Zusammenfassung:In the prodn. of a rubber coating on a substrate, two coats are applied simultaneously. The first, next to the substrate, is applied with a soln. of a first synthetic resin and a first polymerisation inducer, and the second, over the first, with a soln. of a second synthetic resin. The coatings pref. are applied with a slip coat or extruder. The solvent is a ketone, alcohol, ester or halohydrocarbon, and the rubber layer contains silicone rubber and/or silanes or dibutyl Sn dilaurate, and has a thickness of 3-50 mg/dm2. The substrate consists of polyester, polyolefins, cellulose derivs. plastics or metals, pref. Cu, Al or Zn. USE/ADVANTAGE - The technique prevents the solidifying resin adhering to the liquid casting slit and/or liquid-delivering lip of the coating had during casting. It is suitable for continuous operation and avoids the problem of longitudinal streaks. The process is esp. useful for making PS printing plates, partic. dry printing plates.
