Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To improve the cooling effect of a piston crown in a piston for an internal combustion engine in which a cooling oil is sprayed against an inner surface of the piston crown. CONSTITUTION: A piston is provided with air storage chambers 16, 17 in addition to cooling oil feed passages 5, 9 through which a cooling oil is passed when it is fed and sprayed against an inner surface 6 of a piston crown 2, a wall surface of the chamber forms cooling surfaces 6, 40 of the piston crown 2, and generates the air flow to entrain the cooling oil by air feed passages 18, 19 to the air storage chambers 16, 17, and air return flow passages 23, 24 to internal spaces 20, 21 of the piston.
