Reset meter with damped carry gear wheels - damps rotation of carry gears when disengaged from counter wheels

A reset counter with a number of damped carry gear wheels (60) and rotatably driven counter wheels (22, 24) contains an axially extending axle for mounting coaxially rotatable counter wheels in increasing order. Carry wheels on an axle can engage counter wheels to increment a higher order wheel in response to a certain rotation of a lower order wheel. A reset arrangement for the counter wheels contains a means (86) of disengaging the gear wheels from the counter wheels. A damping arrangement damps the rotation of at least one gear wheel when it is disengaged. ADVANTAGE - Prevents confusion if rapid reset is made while wheels are responding to new count.
