Cationic-active emulsion for road-building applications - contains polymer-modified binder obtd. by mixing bitumen with polybutadiene(s) and sulphur at specific temp

Cationic-active emulsion (I) for road building applications consists of a polymer-modified bituminous binder (II), cationic-active emulsifiers, mineral acids and water; (II) is produced by mixing 78-98 pts. wt. bitumen (softening pt. 35-60 deg.C, contg. at least 25wt.% resin) with 1.8-20 pts. wt. po...

Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:Cationic-active emulsion (I) for road building applications consists of a polymer-modified bituminous binder (II), cationic-active emulsifiers, mineral acids and water; (II) is produced by mixing 78-98 pts. wt. bitumen (softening pt. 35-60 deg.C, contg. at least 25wt.% resin) with 1.8-20 pts. wt. polybutadienes (with Mn 2000-10,000, iodine no. 350-450g I/100g and viscosity 1-250 Pa.s at 20 deg.C) and 0.2-2.0 pts. wt. S, by stirring for up to 5 hrs. at 160-230 deg.C. Pref. up to 50wt.% of the bitumen in (II) consists of resin-rich hydrocarbon mixts., such as heavy vacuum distillates and/or petroleum processing residues and/or pitches or tars from hard coal, or brown coal processing, or mixts.. USE/ADVANTAGE - The modified bitumen has improved rubber-elastic properties, e.g., high ductility and high elastic recovery, high tackiness, increased adhesion to minerals and increased resistance to high and low temps.; as a result of this, road toppings made with (I) have an extended service life.
