Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A cooling system, includes (a) a collection tank e.g. of steel, which is supported above the foundation by props and which is located below the reactor pressure vessel and its surrounding biological shield; (b) tank openings which are covered by a protective or sacrificial layer, e.g. of concrete, in the tank; and (c) a water-floodable space between the tank (11) and the foundations. Tubes or extensions (15) of material with preselected melting temp., are inserted in the tank openings (14) and extend upwardly at least partially into the sacrificial layer (12). ADVANTAGE - The collection vessel bottom plate remains intact on melting of the sacrificial layer since water can enter before the layer is completely melted. Water entry is controlled so that flooding is not initiated by small coolant leakage incidents.
