Zusammenfassung:Shell (10) has a metallic guide band (12) and a shell casing (22) connected to the shell base (24). Guide band (12) consists of a metal with a shape memory effect, pref. a Cu-Zn-Al shape memory alloy. Guide band (12) is applied to the shell base (24) and/or the shell casing (22) by cooling the shape memory metallic guide band (12) to at least -120 deg. C, expanding the guide band, pushing the guide band onto the casing (22) and/or base (24) and then heating to induce radial contraction by the memory effect. A shape memory metallic guide band (12.1, 12.2) may be fitted to each of the shell casings (22) and the shell base (24). Alternatively, a single guide band may overlap both the shell casing and the shell base. ADVANTAGE - Guide band is simple to fit on the shell base and the pref. thin-walled shell casing while preventing assembly and subsequent damage to the thin casing.
