Zusammenfassung: | An Ulbricht sphere consists of a solid sphere (b) of transparent material (pref. plastics or esp. acrylic glass) having a reflective outer coating (14). The sphere is produced by injection moulding or casting and pref. has an integral light inlet and/or outlet opening (13,20). The inlet and/or outlet opening region of the sphere may also have an integral imaging optic and an integral fitting (15) having a polished inlet and/or outlet window (21) at its free end. The fitting (15) may have a recess for holding a light detector (16) and may have a light-absorbing coating (22) e.g. of black paint. USE/ADVANTAGE - The Ulbricht sphere is used to measure the light flux from light sources, esp. lasers. Compared with hollow Ulbricht spheres, the sphere has a compact and simple structure suitable for inexpensive measuring equipment which does not require expensive adjustments. |
