Inert-gas ion laser with hexagonal discharge channel - has longitudinal field strength assumes circular cross=section in combined trapezoidal grooves with rounded edges
The discharge channel is formed by two trapezoidal grooves (10,11) juxtaposed base-to-base in semicylindrical bodies (8,9) butted together at their plane surfaces (14,15). The edges (12) of each groove (10,11) are rounded to a radius of at least one-tenth of the max. dia. of the groove. Slight offse...

Zusammenfassung: | The discharge channel is formed by two trapezoidal grooves (10,11) juxtaposed base-to-base in semicylindrical bodies (8,9) butted together at their plane surfaces (14,15). The edges (12) of each groove (10,11) are rounded to a radius of at least one-tenth of the max. dia. of the groove. Slight offsets between the groove edges are insignificant since they give rise to no high-voltage peaks. Nonconductive sputter-resistant coatings in the grooves are advantageous, esp. in longer channels. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. in an Ar laser. Prodn. of light is increased without disturbance by additional transversal modes. |
