Zusammenfassung:	The automobile headlamp has a high pressure or gas discharge light source (2) positioned at the focus of a rear reflector (3), providing a parallel output beam (4) fed through a front lamp glass. The latter has an associated filter (5) which absorbs light in the non-visible IR range, to provide heat which is used to heat the surface of the lamp glass, for thawing snow or ice. Pref. the lamp glass is itself provided by the filter (5) which exhibits a zero absorption for light in the wavelength range between 380 and 780 nm and a total absorption characteristic outside this range.
