Zusammenfassung: | When the main mirror (1) of a reflecting telescope consists of four segments (1a-d) which are bonded together, the intermediate pieces (2) have the same coefficient of expansion as the segments. The sides of the segments leave a small gap relative to both sides of the intermediate strips and these gaps are interconnected by passages so that the adhesive becomes evenly distributed on both sides. ADVANTAGE - This results in a firm connection over large areas with a high rigidity and leaving minimum thermal stresses. |
