The tape speed is around 12 millimetres per second. The circuitry of the sound head (12) of the recorder has a switch (9) opened by the RDS decoder (3) as soon as the message broadcast sensor (8) recognises a warning message. The head has a frequency generator (10) switched between two frequencies, respectively above 300 Hertz and below 3 kilohertz. The control input of the generator (10) is coupled via the switch (9) to the serial output of a shift register (6). The parallel inputs of the register (6) is coupled to the data outputs of the RDS decoder (3). At the clock input of the register are applied pulses at a 1.2 kilohertz rate. ADVANTAGE - Allows 24 hour recording.
