Zusammenfassung:	Apparatus for the thermal treatment of solid and sludge-type organic materials and of inorganic materials contaminated with organic materials, consisting of an upright cylindrical reactor (1) which is charged with ceramic or metallic spheres (3) and is provided with a stirrer (4) for moving these spheres in the radial and axial directions, is characterised in that the spheres are distributed over a plurality of plates (2) which are arranged at spacings one above the other and which have a perforation permeable to gases and fine solids particles.
