Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a device for the force-actuated adjustment of windows, flaps and the like which close openings in buildings, in particular as an adjustment member in automatic smoke-outlet and ventilation systems, having a rack and a gearing member which is arranged such that it engages into the toothing arrangement of the rack and is driven by a motor, there being provided, parallel to the rack, a spring which counteracts the weight at least in sub-regions of the adjustment path. In one development, the gearing exhibits a brake which is designed such that it acts only in one direction. In a further development, the device does not exhibit any weight-counteracting springs.
