Zusammenfassung:	The object is for the liquid-crystalline compound to be admixable with known enantiotropic or monotropic compounds or mixtures and to reduce the bulk viscosity and thus the response times of electro-optical devices. A difluoromethyl compound of the formula R-(A -Z )n-A -Z -A-X-CHF2 or a mixture of these compounds and a second component comprising further enantiotropic or monotropic liquid-crystalline compounds form the principal components of the liquid-crystalline dielectrics, where the difluoromethyl compounds can be present in an amount from 3 to 70% by weight. The liquid-crystalline dielectrics are used in electro-optical display elements and in electrically switchable shutters.
