Zusammenfassung: | A vacuum-formed fill sheet (16,18) for water cooling towers is provided with structure for contact with adjacent sheets (16, 18) for maintaining proper spacing around a perimeter of the sheets (16,18) as well as between interior cooling zones (28) formed within the sheet (16,18). Top marginal edge portions of the sheets (16,18) are formed in a corrugated pattern, with the peaks (38) and valleys (40) of adjacent sheets (16, 18) being inclined in opposite directions in order to maintain sheet spacing while enabling the film flow of water thereover to cooling zones (28) below. Honeycomb structure (42,44) formed along facing, side edge portions of adjacent sheets (16,18) also assists in maintenance of the requisite sheet spacing while functioning to smoothly guide the air between adjacent fill packs (10) in a horizontal direction with a minimum of pressure loss. The honeycomb structure (42,44) as well as the corrugated sections (34,36) eliminate stresses within the sheets (16, 18) that might otherwise cause warpage, sagging or bending of the latter. |
