Ship as sports ship of "catayacht" type

The "catayacht" combines within itself the advantages of a catamaran with those of a sailing yacht, and furthermore offers a larger internal space than is the case with other boats of the same length. The supposed disadvantages, such as large wetted surface and relatively high weight, can be compensated by the selection and dimensioning of the rigging or motors. Once the boat comes on to the plane, there is a substantial reduction in the force required to keep up speed. An application of the described hull shape is conceivable for fast commercial ships, and likewise as special ships, for example as oil collectors for sucking up an oil carpet or other contamination from the water surface.
