Zusammenfassung:	A process for the edge and face grinding of cut blooms (1) to effect chip removal therefrom comprises measuring the bloom contours and coordinates, and the bloom feed speed and feeding distance remaining before it reaches the machining position are also determined. A grinding wheel (5) is adjusted in conformity with these measurement data, and the feed motions of the grinding wheel are controlled during bloom machining in conformity with the measurement data. In this way, the bloom can be passed through the grinding station and machined continuously. This facilitates the fully automatic grinding of edges and flame cut surfaces on longitudinally cut blooms.
