Zusammenfassung:	The implant 10 includes a porous pad 26 adapted to be wrapped around the stem 20 and attached thereto. The pad is first precontoured and is then wrapped about the stem in a second and final shape corresponding to the shape of the stem portion about which it is wrapped and subsequently secured. The pad may first be formed in or pressed into a substantially flat sheet before being precontoured. Apparatus (Figures 7 and 8) is described for wrapping the pad around the implant. The stem may be recessed in the area to receive the pad.
