Zusammenfassung:	Alkyl and alkenyl aryl ether derivatives corresponding to the formula: (I) in which R1 is a saturated cycloaliphatic C6-C20 alkyl group or a mono- or polyunsaturated, linear, branched or cycloaliphatic C6-C20 alkyl group and R2 is a C1-C4 hydroxyalkyl group, a C3 or C4 hydroxyalkenyl group, a group -COOR3, -CH2-COOR3, -CH2-CH2-COOR3 or -CH=CH-COOR3, are suitable as sebosuppressive agents in cosmetic or pharmaceutical preparations for topical application to the hair and to the skin.
