The light source irradiates a part-area of the recording carrier, consisting of a multiplicity of picture elements, and the photodetector arrangement consists of a CCD image pick-up arrangement which is arranged in such a manner that the charges in the cells of the CCD image pick-up are transported in the same direction and with the same speed at which the part-area illuminated by the light source is moving over the recording carrier.
