Zusammenfassung:	A motor vehicle hydraulic brake system has a hydraulic pump (29) and a hydraulic accumulator (13). In addition, a brake fluid return reservoir (15) is provided. A hydraulically acting level control (14), arranged on at least one vehicle axle, can normally be connected to the return reservoir (15) by way of a media separator (11) and a control valve (12), and at times to the pressure side of the hydraulic accumulator (13). The media separator (11) is a cylinder (17) containing a piston (16) spring-loaded against the brake fluid pressure, the inlet pressure chamber (18) of which cylinder is connected to the control valve (12) and the outlet pressure chamber (19) of which is connected to the level control circuit (20). On triggering, the control valve (12) is switched in pulses into the pressure position. An opening valve (21) is also connected between the outlet pressure chamber (19) of the media separator (11) and the level control circuit (20).
