Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a device for raising the exhaust gas temperature of a diesel engine to the burn-off temperature of a soot burn-off filter arranged in the exhaust line by heating the intake air in an intake air-exhaust gas heat exchanger. So that the burn-off temperatures are achieved even under extreme conditions, such as low outdoor temperatures and idling, the device comprises a burner, the combustion gases of which are either admitted to the heat exchanger or directly mixed with the intake air.
