Highly stretchable large-volume packaging unit

A highly stretchable large-volume packaging unit consisting of needled nonwovens is provided. The packaging units, in the form of a bag, can have a diameter of 3 m and a height of 5.5 m. Such packaging units filled with sand, flyash, filter dust or other materials are deposited in bodies of water or serve for the erection, closing and/or renewal of dyke-consolidating installations on coasts or riverbanks. Moreover, they can be used in roadbuilding. The filling of the large-volume packaging units takes place in filling moulds. However, they can also be adapted to the particular loading space of a means of transport, for example of a heavy-goods vehicle or ship, and, after being filled with the filling material and subsequently sewn shut, can be deposited directly at the place of use or lowered into the water. Ships, for example stone dumpers, hopper barges or deck barges, are particularly suitable for this purpose.
