Zusammenfassung:Coking system in which feedstock mixtures are charged batchwise to an indirectly heated reactor, and a plant in which a plurality of reactors are combined into reactor blocks. Coke oven plants have hitherto been constructed in a battery type of construction, a battery being associated with a relatively large number of coke ovens which are dependent on one another structurally and in terms of heating technology. In the novel coking system, it is intended that the individual reactors should be operable independently of one another structurally and in terms of heating technology. The reactor is designed as a large-volume coking reactor which is bounded by two rigid walls and whose chambers have plane-parallel heating walls which are supported rigidly against the reactor walls and have vertically arranged heating flues fitted with separate controlling and/or regulating elements. The regenerators or recuperators are arranged between the heating walls and the side walls. The large-volume coking reactors are preferably combined into reactor blocks without the individual reactor losing its independence, that is to say, for example, that it can be exchanged or repaired without adversely affecting neighbouring reactors. The preferred field of application is the coking of feedstock mixtures based on bituminous coal.
