In a method for two-way transmission of digital signals on a single transmission line following a control procedure using the master-slave principle, a time division multiplex coding device being provided for multi-channel transmission and a plurality of transmission channels being combined in one frame, it is provided that the temporal position of the frame for the received pulses is checked by a synchronisation device and, for transmission pulses, the frame is moved to a temporal position which is such that overlap of transmit and receive frames in the respective transmitter or receiver is prevented regardless of distance, and that the frames are transmitted cyclically and transmission and reception are performed simultaneously within the cycle period in relation to the duration of the entire message.
