Fuel injection system

A fuel injection system is proposed, which serves for the fuel feed of an internal combustion engine. The fuel injection system comprises a fuel pump (5), which delivers fuel into a fuel feed line (3), in which fuel metering valves (1) are situated, on which a constant pressure difference can be controlled by control valves (13), which pressure difference is influenced by a pressure control valve (20). The pressure in the fuel feed line (3) can be controlled by a system pressure control valve (9), in the connection (26) of which to the fuel feed line (3) a restrictor (43) is arranged, which can be operated by a solenoid (44), which can be triggered by an electronic control unit (32) as a function of operating variables of the internal combustion engine. A displacement of the restrictor (43) into its throttling position causes an increase of the fuel pressure in the fuel feed line (3) and hence an amplification of the control pressure drop on the pressure control valve (20), in order, for example, to ensure reliable starting of the internal combustion engine below certain temperatures.
