Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to an internal combustion engine with liquid-cooled cylinder liner (1), the cylinder liner (1) being enclosed by a spiral cooling space (3) and the cooling space being formed by a sheet metal jacket (2) fitted on to the outside of the cylinder liner (1). Owing to the sheet metal jacket, the cooling space is easy to manufacture, of easily variable design shape and can be incorporated without problems into the internal combustion engine (Fig. 1a, c).
