Zusammenfassung:In order to increase the service life of the electrically heated component (3) of a glow plug and to prevent any negative influence of the glow plug on the flow conditions in the combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine outside the cold starting phases, the electrically heated component (3) is supported in its mounting (1) so that it is displaceable between an operating position, in which it projects into the path of a fuel jet, and a retracted rest position (Fig. 1).
