Operating and display unit for a vacuum cleaner

In the case of an operating and display unit for a vacuum cleaner which is equipped with foot-actuated, large-surface switching buttons and a step switch mechanism for the stepwise connection of the vacuum-cleaner fan motor and selectable power stages and in which a power stage selected in each case is displayed via a power display, the power display being designed as a rotatable display body. This display body is mounted separately from the step switch mechanism in a vacuum-cleaner insert also carrying the switching buttons and is adjustable by means of the step switch mechanism via a separate drive synchronously with the treading-down of the foot button for the power selection. All the function elements of the operating and display unit are arranged in the insert to be individually detachable and exchangeable, so that trouble-free exchange of the elements is possible in the event of a service. The design of the power display as a cylindrical display body, as well as the mutually offset arrangement of the individual switching buttons, is advantageous in that it provides a clear operating and display arrangement of the unit.
