Apparatus for dividing a wire winding

The invention relates to the field of wire-rod production. The aim is to eliminate manual cutting of wire samples or the like in wire-production installations. The object is to provide an apparatus for dividing a wire winding in a coil-collecting shaft using a cutter-carrying catch lever, movable on a circular path along the shaft inner wall, for the wire rod, which makes it possible, during the dividing of the wire rod, simultaneously to cut off at least one sample piece from each divided-off wire coil in a manner free from damage and without interrupting the wire feed and to carry it away safely out of the coil-collecting shaft. This is achieved in that the catch lever is provided with two cutters, the cutting edges of which lie in different horizontal planes above and below the catch lever, and is arranged between two rotating rings which are located on shaft-casing notches, are connected to one another by a catch-lever bearing bolt and have the respectively associated counter-cutters - Fig. 1.
