Zusammenfassung:	A method and welding electrode for welding on radial connecting wires of electrical capacitors to the end contact layer of the capacitor body, in that the connecting wire (which is fitted between an end surface of the live welding electrode and the end contact layer) is pressed by the welding electrode against the end contact layer. Before completely penetrating into the connecting wire, the end surface of the welding electrode is moved into the melted-on part of the capacitor body such that it is in flat contact with the end contact layer, thus reducing the contact resistance between the welding electrode and said end contact layer, so that further melting of the end contact layer and thus further penetration of the connecting wire into the end contact layer are prevented. For this purpose, a holding notch, which holds the connecting wire for a part of its cross-section, is formed in the end surface of the welding electrode.
