The invention relates to a method for microprocessor-controlled communications systems, in particular centrally controlled telephone switching systems, with data processors which, in conjunction with program-run interruption commands which can be stored in main memory devices, control additional test routines serving as further function tests. The test routines (DE-SY, DE-DA) can be transferred from the operating system (BS) via a floppy disk (FD) to a program segment (DE-C/D) of the main memory device (MEM) and can be inserted in the current program run at any point by program-run interruption commands. A method of this type is used for fault analysis of microprocessor-controlled communications systems.
