Zusammenfassung:	A cellulosic particle, especially useful as a cat litter, is manufactured by agglomerating a fibrous cellulosic feed material in the presence of water, compacting the surface of the agglomerated particles, and drying the particles. The water causes hydrogen bonding between the films. Paper mill sludge or biberized waste paper is moistened with water in blender 33, agglomerated in rotating drum 41 or a rotating disc agglomeration to form spherical particles which are then compacted to remove projecting films by the action of fluidized bed dryer 46 or a further rotating drum. In the embodiment of Figure 4 agglomeration compaction and drying are accomplished in a single long rotating drum.
