Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a method and a device for changing the drop in pressure at an operations separator without terminating its operation and without considerably reducing the effectiveness of the separation. A flow of a fluid which has particles suspended in it and whose density is lower than the density of the particles suspended in it is allowed to flow tangentially into an upper component of a generally cylindrical eddy chamber so that particles are separated off by radial outward and downward movement in the direction of a particle outlet arranged on the floor, whilst purified fluid is allowed to flow upwards in the direction of an outlet arranged at the top end. The drop in pressure at the separator is increased or lowered by moving an eddy stabilising device in the direction of the fluid outlet opening, or away from it, without interrupting the flow of the fluid or of the particles in the separator.
