Coalescence insert for demixing water/oil emulsions

The coalescence insert serves for demixing water/oil emulsions and has a coalesence separation wall which is made of fibre and a perforated support. The coalescence separation wall is of multi-layer construction. It is composed for this purpose, in the direction of throughflow, of a first and third layer made of synthetic oil-derived fibre, a second or intermediate layer made of low-micron glass wool in the form of a web having a fibre thickness of 1 to 4 mu m and a fibre fabric forming the fourth or end layer. The individual layers are connected together by needles. The multi-layer coalescence separation wall is attached with the aid of clamping straps to a perforated cylindrical casing as a support. The coalescence insert is used on seagoing ships but also in oil separators of inland waterway ships.
