Package for elongate articles, in particular cigarettes or cigarillos

The invention relates to a package for elongate articles, in particular cigarettes or cigarillos, made of stiff paper, thin cardboard or the like, having a bottom, a front and a rear wall, and having narrow sides formed by double-layered side walls, and having a lid which closes the removal side of the package opposite the bottom and is arranged so as to be pivotable. In order to allow single-handed opening and closing of the lid and secure fixing thereof in the closed position, the lid consists of a rear side corresponding to a narrow side, an upper side corresponding to the removal side, and two connecting surfaces. It is attached to a basic tab which projects laterally from the bottom on the narrow side and serves as a hinge. A projecting retaining tab is moulded in each case onto the free edge of the upper side of the lid and onto the side opposite the basic tab serving as a hinge. When the lid is pivoted about its hinge axis located at the bottom, said retaining tabs engage in one another and bound its pivoting-up movement.
