Zusammenfassung:	Ammonia and ammonium salts are removed from coal-fired power station recyclings by reacting them with calcium oxide or materials which contain calcium oxide, and excess amounts of water or aqueous suspensions, where the amount of water not required for slaking the calcium oxide is such that it is completely vaporised by the heat of the slaking reaction and is drawn off together with the ammonia.
