Zusammenfassung:	In an apparatus for joining two metal plates (22, 24) or layers (26) by pulse welding while deformations or bulges (23) provided in one metal plate are pressed into the other metal plate or layer (26), an electrode (14, 20) for carrying the energy required for the pulse welding is allocated to each metal plate or layer. The two electrodes (14, 20) are here arranged next to one another on a work surface (5) and are overlapped by a lowerable pressure plunger (10). One of the electrodes (14) rests in a channel (12) of a profiled piece (11) and is supported there against a stored-energy device.
