Zusammenfassung:	In a protective hood for circular saw benches, in particular for covering the toothed rim of the saw blade projecting from the saw bench, consisting of a box-like cover which is guided on a movable suspension device, is of essentially rectangular configuration and is open towards the saw bench, there is the problem that a protective hood of this type can make no contribution whatsoever with regard to the noise emission of the circular saw benches, which are ranked among the most noisy woodworking machines. To reduce the sound-intensity level acting on the hearing of the operator, the protective hood overlaps the toothed rim (12) of the saw blade (11) and the adjacent section of the workpiece (13) in a sealing manner relative to the saw bench, the protective hood (15) being provided with means (27, 28) for the visual monitoring of the cutting point at the workpiece (13).
