Zusammenfassung: | The invention relates to polyolefin fibrils which have been modified by means of an oxide, hydroxide or silicate of an element from main group II to IV of the periodic table or a sub-group element. They have a high degree of beating and a large specific surface area and are particularly suitable as asbestos substitute. They are prepared from solutions of the polyolefins in an organic solvent which contain the admixed modifier, in a process in which the solutions are either a) heated under pressure and cooled under adiabatic relaxation, during which the fibrils are deposited, or b) introduced into a precipitation bath under the action of shear forces, during which the fibrils precipitate. |
