Zusammenfassung:The internal combustion engine functioning according to the method has at least one main combustion chamber (10), an ignition chamber (11) producing an ignition flame with at least one injection duct (25, 26) leading to the main combustion chamber (10) and an assigned ignition device (49), a sensor (12) with differentiator (45) connected on the output side as actual value transmitter, a set value transmitter (17) and a governor (18, 19, 20). The sensor (42) detects the pressure in the main combustion chamber (10) and the differentiator (45) indicates the timing of the highest combustion pressure. The set value transmitter (17) emits signals at that angle of rotation of a crankshaft (12a), at which the highest combustion pressure is to occur. In the event of any deviation of the actual value from the set value, the governor (18, 19, 20) adjusts the temperature of a heating resistor (28) and thereby the temperature of the mixture inside the ignition chamber (11). If the actual value occurs too late, greater heating leads to more intensive ignition flames and these cause accelerated combustion of operating mixture inside the main combustion chamber (10).
