Zusammenfassung:Method for increasing the cleaning effect on laundry in washing machines having a motor-driven laundry drum, in which the laundry is moved to and fro mechanically in a washing liquor as a result of the reversing drive of the laundry drum. For the purpose of improving or increasing the cleaning effect on the laundry, with the mean relative switch-on period of the laundry-drum output being maintained, the relative switch-on period of the laundry-drum drive is lengthened by a specific amount in the high-temperature phase of the washing liquor, whilst the switch-on period is at the same time reduced according to this amount in the heating phase of the washing liquor.
