A low-pressure discharge lamp with a lamp base at one end displaying an external bulb (6) sealed in a gas-tight manner with a glass-to-metal seal (10) and filled with gas and/or metal vapour, two preheatable electrodes (12, 12') provided with current supply leads (11, 11') and disposed inside the external bulb (6) at the glass-to-metal seal (10) and one or two U-shaped internal tubes (1, 1') also disposed inside the external bulb (6) and made of glass, wherein the first end (4) of one of the straight parts (2) of each internal tube (1, 1') forms a gas-tight enclosure around the current supply leads (11, 11') of one of the preheatable electrodes (12, 12') and the second end of the other straight part (3) of each internal tube (1, 1') has an opening (5) which is located in the vicinity of the glass-to-metal seal (10), characterized in that both the glass-to-metal seal of the current supply leads (11, 11') holding the preheatable electrodes (12, 12') in the U-shaped internal tube or tubes (1, 1') and the glass-to-metal seal of the U-shaped internal tube or tubes (1, 1') in the external bulb (6) consist of a pinching (10), and in that during the pinching operation, the U-shaped internal tube or tubes (1, 1') is or are positioned by means of a support (9') which remains in the lamp and has at least one supporting element (7, 7' ; 8, 8').
