Zusammenfassung:In the method, at the moment when the welding arc is ignited, the number and the sequence of zero and one intervals of the mains power supply voltage are changed in order to shift the amplitude of the output voltage in the direction of the current. In the device for carrying out the method, a welding circuit current sensor 43 and a required value sensor 57 for the switching-on duration of the power circuit breakers 2, 4, 3, 5 and the switching thyristors 13, 14, 10, 11 are provided, which determine the number and the sequence of the zero and one intervals of the mains power supply voltage as a function of the welding phase.
