Device for portioning and compressing foodstuffs

The device essentially comprises a filling shaft (2) and a chamber (3) which are separated from each other by a cutting element (1). In each case one side wall of the filling shaft (2) and of the chamber (3) takes the form of a flap (4) or a pressure ram (13) or else by a panel element (20) and a pressure ram (21), which allows that the volume of the filling shaft (2) and the chamber (3) to be changed. The filling shaft (2) and the chamber (3) can receive an adjustable maximum volume during the filling process, and then the chamber (3) is closed by means of the cutting element (1), after which the walls of the filling shaft (2) and the chamber (3) are moved into a position which brings about an appropriate reduction in the volume of the filling shaft (2) and the chamber (3).
